Stereotype on Food

Stereotypes on food are very common. A stereotype I heard about food was "Tacos taste better made by Mexicans". Due to this stereotype I would avoid buying food like tacos in American restaurants, I would always order in Mexican or Hispanic restaurants. A few years later my perspective had changed, this happened when I went to a "Mexican restaurant" I ordered a few tacos and a burrito, once I had tasted the tacos I was amazed by how delicious they were compared to other tacos I have ate, later that day I found out that the person making the tacos was not even Mexican he was American. This experience made me realize that stereotypes are also placed on foods and due to these stereotypes we miss out on a lot of stuff.

Today we watched a documentary and answered some questions on Writable.

One thing I learned is that food can help you explain your culture. One way I may use this in the future is to let people know what my culture involves by showing it in food.
